Many Customers would like to
operate their own NOC using their own NOC Techs
but simply cannot afford the startup and on-going support costs for doing
so. Our "NOC in a Box" service solves this problem! Vigilance Monitoring will
provide, install, manage and support your entire
monitoring infrastructure
including console servers, agents, knowledge modules, templates, smart
plug-ins and so on. The Customer provides, trains and manages the NOC Techs
who will be doing the actual monitoring at their facility. The Customer has
total control over the policies, procedures, computer access and day-to-day NOC operations without any of the headaches (or high costs) of maintaining the monitoring environment
This is a very high end, comprehensive, managed monitoring service using BMC
Software Patrol agents, Patrol knowledge modules and NOC
Best Practices technology.

past 18 years. Besides BMC Software, we also have
a great deal of design engineering experience working with other very high end
server and network monitoring software products such as Sun Solstice,
Tivoli, Nortel Optivity, HP Openview Operations OVO,
HP Network Node Manager NNM, Compaq Insight Manager,
NetIQ, Ciscoworks and more in the event that Patrol does not
provide enough (or provides too much) monitoring coverage for your needs.
We are not
software resellers or a VAR so we are free to recommend and use whatever
monitoring
solution is best for you, not just the products that we get commissions on.
We are the only
company in the whole wide World that we know of with over 18 years experience
making a business out of
designing, building and managing professional NOCs.
We can identify, install, implement and
manage just the right monitoring
product(s) to fit your monitoring needs and IT budget.
Whatever solution is chosen, at a minimum it will monitor all Operating system parameters, processes and log file
entries. Knowledge modules for most popular
applications and databases can be added. We can also write custom monitoring
knowledge modules if something is not already commercially available.

This is a fully managed Network Operations Center service. Vigilance
Monitoring will design, plan, architect, implement and maintain your
entire monitoring infrastructure. We will install and configure the
enterprise server, server agents, knowledge modules and all other
required software on all devices to be monitored. Vigilance Monitoring will take care of
all of the routine maintenance, "care and feeding", patch/upgrade
installations and so on.
If desired. we can also baseline all
of your monitored equipment or train your Techs how to do this. We can
help recruit NOC Techs or train existing Employees to become
professional NOC Techs. We can help with your Network Operations Center design as well
as helping to develop operational policies and procedures for your NOC
Techs to follow.
Once your NOC has been built, warnings and alarms can
be sent to pagers, e-mail addresses, trouble ticket
systems or to monitoring stations that your Techs view in real
time. We can also provide dedicated POP e-mail addresses and/or access
to our fully featured trouble ticket system.
Once it's operational, Vigilance will continue to manage your
monitoring environment and will install patches, updates and so on as
required. We can also modify alert threshhold settings, procedures and
processes on and ongoing basis, at your request. We are happy to do as much or as
little of the day to day operational work as you like.

Many "proactive monitoring service providers" use free or almost free
monitoring software to deliver their service. It ought to go without saying
that expensive, professional grade monitoring software is going to do a lot
better job monitoring your environment than free, open source software
will.
We are a BMC Software Service Provider Partner. We use or are licensed to
use all of the PRODUCTS that BMC
or their Partners provide. We also have a lot of experience and in some
cases Partenr relationships with other high end monitoring software
providers. You would not be "locked in" to using only BMC products if you
went with us. We will use whatever monitoring products best suit your needs
and budget.

Pricing for this service will be quoted after an initial consultation
with the Client. Our pricing is completely dependant on how much or how
little monitoring coverage a particular customer needs and wants. These
costs would include the choice of monitoring software, the monitoring
level of coverage, number of devices to be monitored as well as how
much on-going management and support is desired after the initial
install.
As a general rule, Vigilance Monitoring will be substantially less than
the cost to do it yourself. For example, a recent VAR's quote to provide and
install a BMC Patrol powered NOC solution for a Customer wanting to
monitor 150 servers was close to $1,000,000! This in spite of the fact
that this particular VAR didn't even have someone on staff with any
experience building NOCs or even any experience with the software that
they were going to charge $1MM to turn up! This is going to be the case
with most VARs and Integrators that you deal with. Very few have the internal resources
to build a professional NOC, much less do the ongoing support and maintenance. What
they will probably do is farm your project out to an Independent
Contractor who may or may not know what they are doing but will charge you
$250 per hour for this "service". Some deal, huh?
Oh. What was our quote to do this project? Roughly 10% of the VARs quote to
install it and about 1% per Month to maintain it. We would happily
build and support this Customer's NOC for life for a fraction of what the VAR would charge
just for the first 90 days of turn up!
We invite you to shop these prices and our capabilities. Building
professional NOCs and monitoring computer and network equipment is what
we do. It is not a sideline for us. We are confident that you won't find
anyone even close to our competency level in the monitoring area and
especially not at these prices.
